About Me

In many regards I am just an average runner - I was never great, but I have had some good runs. I have been around for a long time and I've learned quite a few things along the way. I ran competitively in high school and college but then I left the sport for a few years. In 2003, my daughters challenged me to complete one of my lifetime goals and run a marathon. So at the age of 44, I jumped into the 2004 Boston Marathon as a charity runner and nearly died!
But from there I was committed to officially qualifying for Boston. In doing so, I studied and trained with various programs (Higdon, Hanson and others) and I learned from better and more experienced runners. I have also learned from the runners I have coached - fast or slow, every runner has a story and experiences I have benefitted from. I have completed 31 marathons, including Boston 14 times. I have a Marathon PR of 3:18 at the age of 53, a 1:28 PR for the Half, an "age-graded" marathon best of 2:49 and I qualified for Boston with over 20 minutes to spare on multiple occasions. I'm currently reinventing myself as track specialist competing in USATF Masters and Senior Games competitions in the 800m, the Mile and the 2000m Steeplechase.
I've also always had a passion for coaching - I enjoy helping others and seeing them realize their potential.
I coached all my children in their youth; soccer, hockey, basketball and baseball, and I have been working with runners of all ages since 2007 and I have been coaching Cross Country and Track at the High School level since 2018.
I'm confident that I can help you achieve your goals.
