Testimonials

Since 2007, I have been assisting runners in accomplishing their goals.  Here is a sample of some of the feedback received:

"Kevin Pfau helped me significantly improve my marathon times! I was really struggling to BQ and all I wanted was to run Boston with that qualifying time! With Kevin’s training and expertise, I finally hit the BQ I was hoping for, and will be going on my third Boston this year! He is an excellent coach who will help you reach your goals!"

A.V.  Massachusetts - 2024

Coach "was the backbone to a few full cycles of training that led to some amazing races." (sub 3:00 marathonns).  "If you are looking for a great running coach, message him."

A.Z.  Connecticut - 2023

"I've truly enjoyed learning how to endure and also to let go. To run with a smile and to not worry about things that are not under my control. To focus on firsts and to worry about the seconds later. I shall be infinitely indebted to you.

Thank You and lets' start training for the next one."

"I ran MCM in 2016 with the help of some of my running club members but I had some additional questions and started following Coach Kevin. Kevin was kind enough to answer all of my questions and point me in the right direction for MCM. This year, I ran Chicago and officially hired Kevin as my coach. It was the best thing that I could have done. I am a working mom that tries to balance life with training. It's not always easy, especially when your schedule is always changing. Kevin wrote a plan for me, but worked with me for months making changes to my training plan so that I could balance everything. He is extremely knowledgeable, but realistic. He understands that running is a hobby and not a full time job. Everything is personalized for you. Everyone has a goal and Kevin really works with you to try to achieve it. Kevin was there for me every step of the way as a constant supporter. I would highly recommend his services."

"I can personality vouch for Coach Kevin Pfau, albeit his resume speaks for itself but not only he's incredibly knowledgeable, also reasonable and reachable. As a matter of fact, I will be using him again for my next MCM. I've said it before, but thank you Coach for everything you do!"

J. S. - Washington, D.C. - 2017

Overall, this year has been a great year of running - from our first full to 4 PRs for me. We definitely have to thank you for all your great coaching and pushing us to become better runners. I don’t think I would have seen so many improvements in my running otherwise.

All of your help in getting us to become stronger runners in preparation for the marathon definitely helped me in achieving my 10K PR! This has been the best running season for me yet - first full marathon and two PRs (half marathon and 10K!).”

Update:  “I wanted to share another PR with you! I just ran the 2XU Toronto Women’s 5K Run this morning and got a new PR! I decided to sign up for this race just a couple of weeks ago since my pace has been improving and I wanted to see how fast I could push myself. I finished 3:20 faster than my previous PR of 30:14 from 3 years ago.”

“You're awesome. A lot of people are interested in becoming better runners. You have the knowledge, skill and experience to help people do just that."

N.H. - Washington, DC - 2016

"This past fall, I wanted to challenge myself by running a half marathon. I started using a one size fits all online training program and quickly felt unmotivated and unsure of my progress. After almost giving up, I started working with Kevin and everything changed. I'm located in Georgia so we worked mostly by email, but the whole time I still felt motivated and coached. Every week he would check in and give me tips on not only my running but also the race itself. I couldn't have done it without his help! Thank you so much!"

A.N. - Savannah Half Marathon - 2016

“I contacted Coach Kevin 6 weeks before my first half-marathon – I was a little late in the game for the traditional training plans I was finding online, and knew I would need something different to go from where I was to where I wanted to be. He set me up with a modified plan to get to the starting line fully prepared- and helped me adjust that plan a few weeks in when I got busy with work and missed a few days of training - and got me to the finish line! I’ve since reached out to Coach Kevin for his coaching advice through 7 more half marathons, 2 distance relays, a mountain trail 30k, a trail marathon, and even a 32 mile ultramarathon– a distance he’s never done himself, but he’s so knowledgeable on the sport of running that his advice transcends the distances. While Coach Kevin’s personal goals in his races are often speed-based, mine have always been based on enjoying the experience and crossing the finish line with a smile, and he’s helped me do that every time."

K.F. - Colorado - 2015

" As a 52 yr old mother of four, returning to the sport after a 6 year layoff, I never expected to set a new PR in the half!  Coach was instrumental in monitoring my progress and helping me make the necessary adjustments."

B.R. - Hartford Half-Marathon - 2013

"As a former D1 track and field athlete I've always been disciplined enough to set a training plan for myself and stick to it. When I decided to sign up for my first marathon, I used my collegiate track knowledge and online research to set a basic plan for myself. With my background, I figured I could wing it and do just fine in a marathon. As it turns out, training for a marathon is pretty hard and my body actually couldn't "just wing it." Two months into training I was struggling with injury and overall fatigue; one day I even fainted at work!  I looked into my nutrition, my sleep, my rehab, and I reached out to Coach Kevin for advice on my training plan. I was already committed to the Marathon, and quitting was not in my nature. Coach Kevin took my injury as his primary concern and was realistic with me about my options. He understood that making it through race day was my priority, so he altered my training plan to help me get there while respecting my body at the same time. With his alterations, I made it through the next two months of training.

Then 1 week prior to race day, my competitive nature kicked in. I told Kevin that I wanted a Boston qualifying time (which was a long shot considering the injury & alterations in training). None the less, he respected my goal and we reviewed my pacing strategy for race day. Despite all the ups and downs of my training, injuries, and an overzealous goal, Kevin worked with me, respected the distance, was realistic with my training status and injury, and got me to run 2 minutes from Boston on my first marathon ever.... 3:37:17 It was an amazing day that I'll never forget! Thanks Kevin!"
